Private & Independent Schools

If she were a helicopter parent, she wouldn't be posting asking for any guidance from you gang of morons.
|
| I just can't believe how nasty people can be on these boards. Be Nice! |
"you gang of morons" Hmmm, I haven't posted before on this thread, but I have to laugh here. Now WHO is the moron here?
|
|
ps: and I hope that someone who writes like that isn't a product of DC private schools!

Hello Everyone,
I am the OP. I have not checked the thread since I posted a few days ago, we have been a bit busy. Anyway a few clarifications. . . 1. I only asked about independent schools because this is the Private/Independent School Forum. No other underlying reason. Educator here. I am excited about all children attending school public or private; I enjoy seeing children learn and watching light bulbs go off in their heads when they learn something new or finally develop an understanding of a difficult concept. 2. I am not a helicopter mom living through my child. I am pleased with the public school education I received. Doing ok for myself and family : ) 3. I wasn't bragging, I would be excited even if DC were attending the public school down the street. It is a new beginning for the children the start of traditional schooling. 4. Thanks to the PP's who defended my initial post. If I offended anyone please accept my apology that was not my intent. Name calling is not lady like and so uncalled for. Just trying to determine if I am overly excited about DC attending school in September. Good Luck to you and your Darling Children this school year

In response to 9:31: I suppose it is true that SOME families who choose to go private do so at least in teeny, teeny part because it makes them feel just a tad special. Or more likely, because they feel their child is special and are making every life decision to reflect that specialness.
But for those who find this mentality so surprising and/or offensive, why in the world would you spend time reading this forum???!!! That said, I am still excited about the start of the coming school year, as I would be no matter what school DC would be attending. We love our school (independent) and feel really lucky (not superior) that our child gets the opportunity to go there ... so the start of each school year is fun and full of promise. |
| Private school parents can also find this mentality offensive. |
| You people need to get a life. |
| Why do people who hate private schools read this forum? Is it a form of "cutting" or some type of self mutilation/torture? JK - but really I just don't get it. |
Sorry, is that grammatically incorrect or something? Missing something here... |
| It may be rude, but the term "gang of morons" is certainly colorful. I enjoyed it, even if I might be considered part of the gang. |

What may be considered moronic is how often an innocent thread, titled something like "Where do you buy Children's boutique clothing?", is hijacked by people who feel the need to judge. Who cares if this OP only said independent schools? Is she horrible? I simply can't fathom someone calling her a helicopter parent. Why make that judgment? Because she said independent schools? I'll tell you what, maybe she actually thought there MIGHT be processes different for independent schools versus public (and there MAY be!). What is so offensive about that?
There are people who really respond rudely to what I think were rather innocently intended questions. Go ahead. Flame away. I'm wearing my flame retardant suit. |
State your DC school??? No way. |
| What was the point of that, anyway? |
|
Hello OP again
Another clarifying point . . . . State your school No point just curious where parents decided to send children - I know many had more that one choice. Anyway, I am so over this thread and sick of clarifying. The thread was only posted for fun Still excited despite the negative responses.
Have a Great school year public and private school parents!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
