If you intend to BF and you have a c on a Thurs or Fri, you may have lots of questions or need various supplies over the weekend and if the LCs aren't there, you will be SOL.

LOL are you serious?

What makes you think LCs don't work weekends? You know several women go into labor over the weekend, right? Some of them even end up with emergency C-secs... Yup, LCs work on the weekends.

This totally depends on the hospital. When I delivered my first, they did not work weekends, but by the time I had my second, they did.

If you were Chinese, you would schedule it according to the day's horoscope. It's kind of the ultimate doing the best for your child. I had a scheduled c for my 2nd, it was definitely weird picking out her birth date. And, because we went back and forth between two dates, dependent on dh's schedule, it always takes me a minute to recall the actual day. GL!

And the post partum nurses are pretty clever about helping with latch, educating you about bfing, helping you, etc. You don't NEED an official LC, the post partum nurses are just as good.

I had a scheduled c-section on a Friday, and it was fine. It was at 8am, and things seemed really quiet the whole time I was there (discharged on Sunday).

This was at WHC. I never saw a LC, but it was my 2nd kid so it wasn't a big deal. I delivered my 1st at WHC on a Weds and didn't see a LC for 2 days... and she was a Kaiser LC, not WHC staff.

Totally agree with this. I credit one of the nurses and not the LCs with my being able to breastfeed this time around. She was such a huge help to me. I am so grateful to her.

I delivered at GW via c on a Thursday and left on a Sunday. Had great staff - including LCs - the entire time. Weekend was absolutely not an issue. Agree with PP to take the first appt of the day to minimize fasting time. Good luck!
