Pediatric blood draw

Just in case anyone is viewing this years after the original posting like I was...

I came across this posting while trying to find somewhere qualified to do a blood draw from my 9-month-old son. After a severe allergic reaction last week, we needed testing done ASAP, and I had no idea how difficult that would be. Our pediatrician and allergist both would not attempt the draw, and directed us to Quest. We attempted one of the local Quest labs, who were unable to get blood after multiple sticks, even after they assured us their people were all trained in pediatric draws. After a few more phone calls to other Quest labs (who all SAY that "all their people are trained and skilled", but clearly they are not), and a trip out to Shady Grove Adventist (where we were told they cannot do allergy testing even though they are affiliated with Quest), we finally were able to get in touch with Children's Hospital Clinic at Spring Valley. Sharrington is still there and was fantastic, got the draw done in one stick with very minimal crying. We were able to get in without an appointment (just called ahead) and he charged $25 and will send everything out to the Quest facility for processing. Thank goodness - he made a stressful situation (for both me and my son) so much easier.
