Girl Scout overnight camp

THis may be a crazy long shot but are there any spots left for sleep away GS camp at this point? I know it books up early . . .

And keep checking and stalking the site. I switched around my DD's camp a couple time throughout the summer last year. Spaces open up as time goes on. The money for camp was due this weekend, so spots may open up this week as people decide to follow through.

Thank you so much for all the tips so far. It will be my daughter's first sleepover this year.

The packing list also state that they need to bring sturdy cup, plate and spoon and folks. Should that be those be camping gear? Any recommendation or suggestions?

We got the Coleman set from Target -- it includes a bag (dunk sack) and has everything in it (times 2 -- we leave the extra at home).

We learned our lesson the first year not to send an expensive mess kit. Only half of it came back.

I have not seen the Target kit, but they had plastic divided plates in the $1 section a couple months ago and I picked up a couple for mess kits. My kid prefers to keep her food divided. They use it for campfire meals and cooking, not for regular meals.

That happened to us, too! That's why we did the Coleman set -- it was less than $7 total.
