In Washington DC area, the best pediatric dentist for patients' with special needs is Dr. Ephraim Altmon. He is located 4301 Connecticut Ave, NW suite #453. He is also able to take children with the most serious dental issues to Children's Hospital OR and do full mouth rehabilitation.

I used to be a fan of Dr. G but am looking for someone else in the Vienna/Tysons/McLean/Falls Church area. I sometimes find the office staff rude and I don't find Dr. G as friendly as she was when she was strarting out. My children still like it there, but my concern is when my older boy (with SN) needs actual dental work done. She seems to be an advocate of sedation which is fine, but he isn't that difficult so I would really like someone who handles a child's anxiety well and who sees sedation as a last resort.

Dr. Gazori uses behavior intervention to handle anxiety, not sedation and not general anesthesia. These are considered only for the most serious of cases from what I understand. He does not charge for behavior intervention either but one time when I visited another office, they did.

We just saw Dr. Lewis at Ensor and Lewis this week after seeing a regular dental practice for five years. The contrast with a regular practice, finally seeing a dentist who knows special needs dentistry, is really a huge relief. The entire practice seems to know and understand special needs kid. We are definitely staying there.

Dr. Edward Nelson is in North Arlington very close to the edge of McLean (near Glebe and Old Dominion). He is wonderful.

We go to Dr. Lewis at Ensor and Lewis, and the ortho practice (Dr. Johson) at that location is great too.

We have also seen Dr. Orlando in Bethesda/Rockville, and I would highly recommend. We switched to Ensor and Lewis due to changing insurance.
