| It is incredibly popular in the US right now - top 10 if not top 5 depending on where you live for the last several years. There will be 3 Owens in your kid's classes. Up their with Liam. |
Owen was 31 for boys in 2025, a little more popular in DC/MD/VA but not top 5-10. However I do think that if you care about “similar” names, there are also a lot of little kids out there named Ethan, Evan, Logan, Rowan, etc. It reminds me of going to school as a Millennial and having, like, Kristen, Crystal, Christine, Christina, and Kristy. Even so, it won’t be as pronounced as it was in the 80s and 90s - there are a lot more kids with “unique” names today vs. when we were growing up. Owen is a nice name so I say go for it if you like it! |
This. I mostly think of all the kids we know with the name. I don't watch wrestling. |
| There were several in our just graduated high school son. A few in his 22 yo brother’s class. It’s still popular. |

I live in a town with a lot of Irish Catholics, and it's very popular. I think it took over after Aidan peaked in popularity. I know a few families who have an Aidan AND an Owen!
I kind of like this name, though it sounds a little whiny to me. And sometimes people wind up calling them "O," which isn't great. |
| there are a ton of preschool and elem. school boys named own now |
| I teach at an elementary school of about 400 and there are two Owens. One is doing great and the other is struggling. |
| It’s pretty popular and never heard of the wrestler. All the Owens I know are sweet boys |
I HATED THAT BOOK (see what I did there?!) I still think of Throw Momma from the Train.
but OP, these are niche references. In general, Owen is wildly popular, common enough, and nobody thinks about it beyond an Ethan or a Jackson or a Connor, etc. at this point. It's a fine name. |
| I know several Owens. A couple are sibling pairs with brother Ethans. Very popular in the 12 and under set. My preschool daughter had 2 Owens in her class of 20 this year. |
|
No particular associations.
It's not an uncommon name if that's important to you, but it's not as popular as it was a few years ago. It's a solid name. |

Never heard of this wrester person.
I know an Owen who graduated HS in 2021. Very smart kid. If I had been a boy, it allegedly would have been my name. It is a family name (my GGF was named Owen.) |
