The article is spot on IMHO

1970 Red Lobster steak and lobster plate $3.55
1976 Red Lobster all you can eat Alaska King Crab legs $6.00

There will be a time the US $ will be reset.

To me this sounds like someone who has missed out on a lot of index fund returns and is trying to justify not investing. Investing in S&P 500 index funds and holding has been a winning strategy for a very very long time.
