+1 Million Isn't it though? I guess they have the money since she's white???

I believe it was because she did not waive extradition, she wasn't charged in Tennessee so there couldn't be a Tennessee bond hearing.

And not just bad police work. Bad prosecutor work. Bad judicial work when accepting this as probable cause. Would love to see the transcript from that hearing.

It’s sad she didn’t have anyone to get her winter clothes and a plane ticket, let alone arrange for legal advice/make sure her house payments are made.
Very telling of how lonely people are

It's always shocking to me how badly these false cases can go for poor people. The weight of the system (and now the weight of AI) is thrown at people, and there's no way for them to fight it.

The story of teenager Kalief Browder, who was mistakenly accused of stealing a backpack and thrown into jail for 18 months because his family couldn't afford money for $3000 in bail haunts me. He ended up committing suicide--life ruined for a crime he didn't even commit.

She sounds as though she doesn’t have much money, and probably her friends and family don’t have much money either. Probably no one had the means or ability to help her out, no matter how much they may have wanted to.
