If they add another make up day I might riot

Now that they’ve used three makeup days, they’ll apply for the waiver and it will be granted.

Yes. This will not be a significant snow event.

LOL. Bummer for you.

Why? Your kid doesn't need to attend. There is never any meaningful instruction on those days. I've been an MCPS parent for 15+ years. I know.

I don't know why there are all these unhinged posts about extra make-up days. Just ignore them.

Yes! It’s so funny. I saw the updated calendar and just shrugged. It’s really not a big deal. But then I saw reaction on this board and realized how out of touch so many parents are.

+100 I don't get it either as a taxpayer parent. We pay for kids to go to school. Just send your spoiled entitled kid to his/her luxurious sleep away camps if it's such a big deal

They’re piling on the makeup days to push their bill passing in the state legislature. That’s all this is at this point. They want it to hurt so that they never have to do a reasonable calendar again….

The makeup day for tomorrow’s closure (Monday, February 23, 2026) will be Friday, June 26, 2026, and this will be an early release day. Wednesday, June 24, 2026, which was an early release day, will be converted to a full school day.

These Mad Mommies of MoCo are so obnoxious.

I guess, although I’m not tantruming about school being extended due to frivolous snow days.

Why are people upset? I don’t have a vacation planned for that week, so I’ll send my chid to school. If I had a vacation planned already then I’d have hi, skip that week and still go on vacation. Are people upset because they’ve already booked camp for their kids and they might not get a refund if they cancel? If that were my case, I suppose I’d just send my child to camp. I must be missing something because I don’t understand why some are so upset.

Obviously, it’ll differ from school to school and course to course —as it should.

June is usually when AP teachers have students work on a passion project and do presentations. This could be widely adopted, but there are still going to be populations that need a different approach. If the class is developmental reading, students should continue working on those skills, especially if students won’t be in summer school.

MCPS football players don't work out during June.
