MCPS teachers

I realize this is just a way to meet federal IEP requirements and create “equity” for students with unsafe walks/bus stops but it really stinks.

They will probably also make some stupid requirement about no new learning and must be reteaching or some nonsense.

That’s on their parents. My kids will be doing your assignments and if they don’t there will be consequences.

I wonder if they are going to have us fulfil a future PD day in anticipation of using that day as snow makeup

Is this your speculation?

I’m okay with that. The county wide PD is so useless that they banned us from using screens last fall to force us to pay attention. Then the slides were riddled with typos so they let us plan the rest of the morning.

You go into the office and get your work done. Just like all the other adults.

You don't know anything about being a teacher or what this means for them, so maybe just run along. What a waste of air.

I sent them a bunch of work to do but I doubt they are doing it.

Thanks, but my kid has received nothing from her AP teachers.

Then email her teachers directly. What’s the point of posting here?

- another teacher who posted work this week so we can stay on track

The announcement is pretty clear that everyone needs to report to their normal worksite.

And, it would be very difficult for us to get our kids to school. It’s not safe. Busses cannot get through, we cannot get to the bus stop and we only have one car that could get through this and the parent needs it for work, depending on the shutdown as no work, o pay and they already missed several days last week with no pay.

We only had one teacher email two assignments and a nice semester summary. If that was you, thank you.

Yes that is a possibility

Every principal will interpret differently. Some think the messaging meant admin staff only and MCEA and SEIU staff don’t report and others aren’t sure and are waiting for clarification.

There is no need for teachers to be in the building. They can work from home.

So can not. They have their own school aged kids at home. Some of them do not have chikd care at the child care sites located in the schools others do.

Vague, on purpose??

The message says grades are due tomorrow so I assume that means teachers are expected to be working on that?
