Thoughts on Dr Taylor’s school closure video

Teacher. Didn’t watch it. I’m grading. If I want a brain break, I’m picking something that has potential to be entertaining. Like DCUM.

Almost like he doesn’t care how stressed some parents are about what’s going on and is just trying to be the “cool superintendent”. It’s kind of gross.

Also it was so bad I had second hand embarrassment but that’s really the least of it.

I bet you're fun at parties

Yeah well, I don’t think it’s funny to consistently say there is no money to fix schools that are falling apart but there is plenty of money for this crap.

Personally, I'm a parent and I appreciate this levity. Not everything needs to be so serious. Please also tell me that the "very serious things going on with MCPS right now" is not about the boundary study. Because if it is making you so stressed, you probably need to seek some help outside of DCUM.

And, "plenty of money for this crap"? This was not a feature film that cost millions to make, hence why you feel it was so bad you were embarrassed by it. Go meditate or smoke a joint, whatever your vibe is.

It doesn’t matter if it was $5 to make, not the point and still too much considering the circumstances.

You definitely sound like someone who smokes plenty of joints in front of your kids though-what an excellent example you are setting for them. You are probably one of the reasons this entire area smells like weed 24/7 now-disgusting.

In front of my kid, no. But also, weed is legal and certainly healthier than alcohol. AND, why do you have to be such a wet blanket?

Yes! I wholeheartedly agree.

Rather than dealing with all of the internal MCPS issues that he single-handedly has created, he is making videos that make him appear cool and connected to the community.

And no, this has nothing to do with the boundary study. This has to do with paying teachers and staff members on time, using fair hiring practices when placing administrators in their positions (um, April Key, cough cough), spending money to change logos that have no reason to be changed, and being unable to read the room when his employees reach out to him with concerns.

His videos are very off putting to many school and central office based staff.

Or pay staff on time, or fix the multitude of Hub+ issues, or fix leave issues. I could go on, but I won’t.

Another thread about Taylor. Someone has a personal animus.

What kind of video is he going to make to announce the make up days mcps will have to have?

Do you think it will be safe to open schools on Tuesday?

Anonymous
Didn’t look at the video. The text that school was closed Monday and Tuesday was enough. I don’t need to see that man talking to tell us something a text can communicate.

Another parent here who is very critical of this. Major cuts to special education are happening and he has time for this bs?
