PG democrats trying to overturn ban on vicious Pit Bulls today

Shelter mixes are being called anything other than the pit mixes they are. Also, those same pit mixes are just as trainable and obedient as other breeds and mixes - I know, I was a foster for pregnant dogs and their puppies for several years.

So this is NOT going to change anything, and also, I don't think there should be a ban on pits. There should be a ban on breeding dogs and licenses doled out to breeders if they show they are competent and make efforts to socialize their pets.

Instead of a ban they should actually crack down on backyard breeding and start putting down aggressive dogs. One bite rule. Agree the ban just means people lie and say dogs aren't pits. I’d add strict enforcement of leash laws, mandatory spay / neuter of any animal found loose or off leash ( like, animal only released back to owner after surgery), and free spay/ neuter ( heck I’d throw in a $20 payment).
Responsible owners would have no problems with these policies.

They should require genetic testing for all shelter dogs. All dogs over 10% pit should be euthanized and illegal to be given away or sold.

This is not a serious proposal.

A) There's no such reliable test

and

B) Even if there was - who is going to pay for and administer it? Shelters/Animal Control is woefully underfunded and understaffed as it is.

Eh, expensive and unnecessary, we all know the phenotype and the dogs crowding the shelters and maiming people are a heck of a lot more than 10% bully. There's a concerted effort by the shelters to either obscure those genetics or act like they don't matter.

Because they are insecure but want to project "toughness" so they get pit bulls, rottweilers, pythons, do things like get muscle cars, motor cycles or big pickup trucks, get visible tattoos with skulls or barbed wire, wear dark sunglasses indoors/at night, wear things like muscle shirts, combat boots, tactical gear, and so on.
