“We’re retired”

It's doable if one doesn't overspend and waste income, and doesn't require a lavish lifestyle.

I guess I can say I’m retired after working a couple of years before I got pregnant at 25? Much fancier than saying I’m at home full time.

An inheritance in coming in few years. It sits in estate account right now. We are not big spenders.
Already worked nearly 30 years.

Good for you. Working for 30 years is an accomplishment.

Pretty crazy.

The money in this area is no joke.

They said they are both retired?

Are you sure they are in 30s and not just healthy looking and young fashioned?

Yep

Did you just post this so you could brag about your $600K HHI? We make $300K combined and while we want for nothing, we don't feel wealthy. We're nowhere near retirement. We have a $500K mortgage and two colleges to pay for in 5-8 years.

Meh, my dh is retired from the military and our youngest is in middle school. We had kids late. It happens.

OK but that’s different and you’re definitely not rich!

We adopted our son at 51 and 49, so we will be retired by the time he is in middle school. It happens. I may not just because I like my job, like the paycheck, I'm good at it and it is very flexible. I may stay until I can get full SS.

My DD's best friend's parents are retired after selling two very successful businesses that they built and ran together. But they are mid-40's, not 30's. They are now quite wealthy.

And why did you post your HHI?

The point of my post is that we make $600K and can’t fathom retirement right now with two young kids in our 40s. Clearly these people have A LOT more than us if they can just retire in this area.

Btw, this is a public school ES!
