Thanksgiving menu for vegetarian guest

If make a vegetable pie/quiche. But I’m a vegetarian who does not eat fish.

I'm the vegetarian, so I make some side dishes that I like. We have a few pescatarians in the family, so I just bake a salmon filet for them (and TBH, it's the easiest thing to make out of all the dishes, and it always gets eaten).

I always make a vegetarian mushroom and leek tart for my cousin, and I also make sure to make a small, separate portion of dressing using vegetable broth instead of chicken broth. It’s no trouble at all.

My sister in law is furious we don’t provide another entree for her. I have so many dishes and appetizers I can’t imagine anyone would go hungry. And for what it’s worth I make some nice appetizers such as smoked salmon and shrimp cocktail plus lobster bisque … I feel like my sister in law just wants to comp plain and feel special. I suggested she bring an entree this year and my husband told me now she’s doubly offended.

Wow are you stupid? Vegetarians don't eat fish.

I'm the vegetarian in a family full of meat eaters. Typically the sides are enough for me, but you didn't share what you are offering other than a multitude of seafood dishes that I wouldn't be able to eat, so I can't judge if your SIL who you clearly hate would be able to eat anything at your meal or not.

Are you also the type of person who insists on using chicken or beef broth in all the sides?

Use veggie stock in the stuffing. I make a baked mac and cheese to please my kids, that’s another good option for a hearty dish.

I’d be bummed if I was vegetarian and the only main was yet another carb-overload. You are right about the stuffing.

What are some dishes you would be psyched to see as a main?

I have a couple of vegetarian family members and I used to be a vegetarian so I like to make it easy for everyone to have a great meal. If you’d like to be accommodating

1. Don’t use meat based broths (ie veggie broth instead of turkey broth in the stuffing)
2. Include a protein heavy main for vegetarians; even something premade or easy is appreciated

I personally am fine eating just the sides but if I’m hosting I always want to include a main that everyone can enjoy

My brother (who has some food sensory issues) doesn't eat Turkey or the potatoes my mom makes that we all love. DH (who makes 90% of Thanksgiving dinner) throws a steak and baked potato on the grill for him. NBD.

Different vegetarian here, but someone above mentioned a quiche. I'd be thrilled with that or a frittata.

Just tell her you didn’t fight your way to the top of the food chain to eat like a goddamn rabbit and tell her to get over it.

Serious Eats did a vegetarian Thanksgiving spread with a few main ideas:

No. Plenty of vegetarian sides.

OP is either a troll or a moron.

Troll: Because no vegetarian in the history of mankind has ever rolled into a thanksgiving dinner and expected a special meal to be made for them. Thanksgiving is a meal of "sides-a-plenty", where vegetarians are typically perfectly happy to partake. And most normal hosts just make sure to make veggie broth stuffing (which tastes identical to meat broth stuffing).

Idiot: Because if half the things OP is making are lobster and fish, instead of normal world sides (ie veggies), no wonder her guest is peeved.
