What areas of your house do you show?

Main floor and lower level are open to guests. Upstairs is just bedrooms and private bathrooms, so no need for guests to ever be up there.

But no one in our families or friends are going to criticize us about the state of our home. That said, if someone was coming that I thought might want a tour, we would generally pick things up and make up the beds. But I would be fine, for example, leaving stuff scattered on the bathroom counter — maybe just put away tampons or something like that (if they were out).

This is kind of how I feel. I wouldn't offer a tour, but if I suspected a guest would ask for one, I would proceed as PP suggested.

I have been on an unwilling participant in a house tour before. I think the other guests were genuinely interested though. I just felt weird being led around and given information as if I were in a museum.
