| Celine bag for $375 |
|
I have, inexplicably, kept trying with TJ Maxx, Nordstrom Rack, etc. Have come to the conclusion it is all trash.
The only "score" is dog poop bags. I can get a large package of them cheaply there. |

From my early years of shopping, I'd say my best scores at TJ Maxx were sweaters. For low prices (cheap department store prices), I got an Irish fisherman's knit sweater and an Icelandic wool sweater. They were both imported from Europe. These days they would be in the upper $100s to $200s to buy.
Most recently, I got a Tommy Hilfiger dress that fits great and looks pretty for $19.99. They don't have petites anymore so I only visit when it's time for a big wardrobe overhaul and I'm hitting all the stores that might have something for me. I'm an unusual person to fit so I often have more luck on the sale rack because the things that don't fit an average person might fit me. |
| Its all cheap synthetic crap and if you do manage to find something you might want to buy it's usually damaged, stained and has holes in it. Those stores are filled with trash. |
+100000000 its insane. |

There are yt videos that show you how to read the store tags. If it has a #1 in the corner, it was made specifically for these type of stores. #2 means it is from the original designer so look for those.
I found a pretty Kate spade jacquard flower bag on sale + if you are 55+ , you get and extra 10% on Mondays (tjmaxx only) |
| I don't have patience for it personally, but I'll occasionally go with a friend who spends an hour or so there. I find things occasionally when I focus on fit and quality rather than brand. Two examples - a really well-made raincoat that fits me perfectly by some random Canadian brand, and a high-quality lightweight quarter-zip top by some random golf brand. |
| I got a cute farm Rio dress there last summer for $40 and at the time retail was over $200. I also found a Likely dress there for under $30 and it was selling at Nordstrom for over $200 again. |
| I bought Loewe loafers at a Saks Off Fifth a few weeks ago, reduced from $900-ish to $175. Usually the designer shoes in that store are on the weird or impractical side, but these are everyday shoes and I love them. |

You can get good deals at Off Fifth. I found some good designer shoe deals (Ferragamo, etc).
I was very anti-factory store, but I gotta say that the Banana Republic factory store has great basic and stylish tops that are perfect under suits and cost like $20. I was pleasantly surprised. Zac Posen is the chief designer now and it shows across the brands. These tops are great for when I travel — easy to pack and wrinkle free. |
