I hired someone from Prep Matters to focus on AP exam test prep and ACT prep. But this was for my child with autism, ADHD and low processing speed. His grades in school were often not reliable indicators of exam scores, and his grades could fluctuate pretty severely depending on various factors.

I did not plan on doing the same thing for my other child, who is very functional, but we had to hire a tutor for AP Physics C, because it turns out the person her school hired to teach that class... doesn't actually know the material (or know how to teach it, at this point we don't know)! So the tutor is essentially teaching her the content of the class.
