Oh and the most important thing is to avoid dry socket by flushing out the holes after each time eating.

Yes to pineapple juice for the entire week before;
Yes to staying on top of/ahead of the pain meds for at least the first 3 days;
Yes to the over the head ice pack that keeps the ice packs on the right spots along the jaw.

Every kid is different. One of ours was miserable for 8-ish days, the other was fine by day 3.

Our kids preferred scrambled eggs as far as soft foods (and I was trying to get some protein in them)

This.
One of my kids was MISERSABLE for 5d (and it was the one who did the pineapple juice!). The other never felt as bad and was out and about day 2.

Insurance didn't cover it, but worth it. Our son had 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed and recovery was easy. He only needed Tylenol for 3 days-no major pain meds. We made sure he was diligent with cleaning the area shooting salt water with a syringe if I recall correctly and he iced the first day. We kept him on mushy foods a day extra just to be safe.

Soft foods fir the first couple of days ..Whatever they like . We did not get any instructions about sleeping with head elevated.

My DS also. Very little pain and was ready to go the next day. Soft food for a couple of days so it didn’t get stuck in the sockets.

I had a similar experience and I was in my 50s.

Maybe it’s the doctor. I always recommend mine.

Request an RX for a painkiller that is non-opioid. Probably won’t need it; Tylenol is usually fine.

I needed the opioid. Tylenol would NOT have cut it.

DW had hers out and needed painkillers. It was liquid foods for a few weeks.

My uncle had his removed when he was in the military. The butcher, ...um doctor, broke some molars getting the wisdom teeth out resulting in crowns.

It also depends on how complicated the extraction is and the position and condition of the teeth.

One of my kids drank pineapple juice for a few days before and had almost no swelling. My other kid did not drink any and had a lot of swelling.
I’d give it a try.
