8-10K all in, with no miles or anything to cover flights?

I would do Tetons and Yellowstone. Fly to SLc and rent a car from there. Start now checking for cancellations for in park lodging and just keep refreshing to find cancellations. It’s truly gorgeous and unforgettable.

For 8-10 for the family I don’t think you can do Europe. Another idea might be Mexico City and then a flight to maybe Acapulco.

Not sure if you can do it comfortably on that budget, but we loved Hawaii for a milestone summertime birthday trip with kids. If you can, take two weeks and visit two islands!

For my 50th, we took the kids (teens) to Banff. Incredible trip.

If you're looking for memorable, I'd do Hawaii, Morocco, or Montreux, Switzerland. For the latter, consider visiting when the jazz fest is on.

We did this for both my and my DH's 50th. Kids were 16.

We went for one week to Hawaii, specifically Kauai. Amazing. At that time of year, you want to stay on the North Shore. We stayed in Hanalei Bay, which we preferred over Princeville (another popular option) because the town was walkable to the place we stayed (AirBnB) so the teens could walk around on their own.

If you have two weeks, you could do another island too. But, one week in a nice house, with flights and everything else, was around the cost of your budget. Obviously given the flight time, if you can stretch extra days, great. But, one week felt great too.

My family went to Greece for my 50th, which was also during the summer. Athens was hot of course but we still had a great time. The islands were lovely.
