The thing is, these foreign propaganda attacks have been so successful that they have persuaded actual Americans to behave the same way, even when the foreign powers aren't paying Americans to make those comments (which Russia and Israel have been caught doing several times.)
|
Russia has been spending millions and has entire office complexes full of people whose job it is to sow discord online. They distort, fabricate, attack, do whatever they can to make both sides look bad in order to drive divides and to weaken America. And Russia isn't the only country doing this, and America isn't the only target. They can't beat us fairly so they are trying to weaponize us against each other. I see quite a bit of it going on - with the same tactics, same talking points, and when confronted with facts and logic, or when cornered and asked to provide a credible source for their claims they just ignore or move on to something else. Happens quite a bit here on DCUM too. Likely not all of it is foreign actors, some are snotty disingenuous partisans as well, who see those tactics and repeat them rather than break the cycle and reject it. |
Exactly. Lot of fake Dem trolls on DCUM. Get outside and talk to people. |
The irony of saying this as a MAGA — whose leader has called Dems scum and wants to jail Obama for nothing. |
| They used to call them viral marketers. |
+1 Our fellow Americans, our neighbors, our brothers and sisters are NOT our enemies. Our enemies are these foreign sources of disinformation along with the American oligarchs who have taken control of our two major parties. |

Yes. The Israelis really, really played the American Palestinian supporters in the last election. Kamala wasn’t perfect, but she would have at least listened to them. Trump is going to build a resort on the graves of their families.
I’m convinced the “burn it all down” people are foreign actors. People forget that sometimes when you burn it all down you rebuild better, but more often than not you spend years or even the rest of your life living in a burned out hovel. I’d rather renovate and still have a roof over my head thanks. |
I think that Democrats pro-globalism stance is part of the problem though. They don't articulate plans that are clearly in American's interest. They may make some macro arguments, "growth is good", "trade is good". Biden's immigration policy "Trust me I'm not Trump." They prefer to see America as a "Welcoming" country where we take any and all guests. |
Mitt was right. The Cold War never ended, and Russia is winning it. They couldn’t compete on the merits of anything, because as a people and a nation they have no spark, creativity, or merit, but they can reign above the chaos. |
If there is any group of people on Earth that has a leg to stand on in being disgusted by the American Federal Government along with the entirety of our political landscape, it's the Palestinian people. Palestinians may just be the ones who would benefit the most from a "burn it all down" and start from scratch strategy as that strategy might be the only feasible way to reduce the influence of money politics (I'm all for trying the renovation route first). The out of control influence of money in politics that has grown exponentially in the last two decades is why there is an imbalance in our foreign policy as it pertains to Israel. When a special interest group is able to come to the table with enough cash to purchase influence from both major parties in a two party political system, nothing is going to change with regard to our Government's policy that favors that special interest group until you eliminate the group's ability to purchase undue influence. I'm not a proponent of "burn it all down" politically speaking but the reference to Palestinians while making this point is a poor fit. |
Uh, Elon did too. His PAC showed commercials in heavy Palestinian/Muslim areas claiming that Harris was pro-Israel and in heavy Jewish areas claiming Harris was pro-Palestinian. There was a short documentary about it on Instagram. |
Absolutely. Bot post! |
Russia’s greatest resource is an educated populace. Putin’s ever-expanding “troll army” attacks the U.S. on a constant basis. Ask anyone in cyber security: they will confirm this truth. Waging cultural war on the United States and the west in general is the most cost-effective way for both Russia and China to weaken their adversaries. And in Putin’s mind, NATO is his primary adversary. |
| Pro tip: starting your post with "I'm a ______ but..." is a clear sign that you are not actually that thing. |
Our adversaries aren't the only ones who benefit from furthering the political divide in American people. Extreme political division stokes hate and fear of the other side. A regular American citizen who identifies as a member of one of the two sides is much more likely to do two very important and noteworthy things when driven to the level of hate and fear and those are to remain fiercely loyal to a fault to their side and to donate money to support the fight against the evil other side. Most Americans acknowledge the efforts of foreign adversaries to derail our path forward as a superpower and agree that these agendas are a threat that should be monitored closely and quelled when possible. Only some Americans are ready to acknowledge the possibility of efforts to divide the American people politically originating from within our political system. Two private entities are in complete control of our Federal Government. Loyalty from those who affiliate with these two entities and of course fundraising are two very obvious motivating factors for division to be stoked by players within our borders. The regular everyday American people would benefit from a return politically to something that looks like the 1992 POTUS election when two very fit and qualified major party candidates were joined by a viable 3rd party candidate with enough support and fresh ideas to bring the very best out of the two major party candidates. There was a general sentiment among Americans that it wouldn't be the end of the world if the other side's candidate won that election. We had little reason to remain loyal to a fault or to donate feverishly to support the fight against the other side. What the American people benefit from and what two corrupt entities seeking to preserve their power benefit from are two very different things. |
