For your 9 year old to have such big feet though, I would wonder if she’s in or about to enter puberty? That really is huge for a 9 year old! My 11 year old boy has slightly bigger feet than most of his friends and he’s a 6.5 which is a women’s 7.5.

OP - no signs of puberty yet. She has an older sister and she hasn't had any signs of puberty yet either (11 years old). Maybe she is going to go through a growth spurt soon?

That's unusual. Whats her current height/weight?

Op - I will also say there must be some height/largeness that runs in our family. My son is 5 and weighs 58 pounds and is around 48” tall.

But your daughter’s height and weight are pretty average for 9.

If that's the case, then her shoe size is okay.

Also, size 8 women is only size 6 kids. So it matches up with the height genes of the family. Nothing to worry about.

What height genes, mom is 5’7” and dad is 5’10”. Those are pretty normal heights and her daughter is pretty average size 9 yr old, aside from giant feet. Why it is nothing to “worry about” it’s just feet size, yet she does have abnormally large feet. It’s hard to find women’s shoes larger than size 10, so hopefully her feet stop growing before then?

I don't think this is that freakishly big. My 9 year old DD is on the tall side, with normal sized feet and she wears a 3-4. Her foot next to my 7.5 foot is not that different in size. I bet she is about to go through a growth spurt/show signs of puberty though.

Op - she is 4’6” and 73 pounds.

Geez I’m 5’4 and wear 6.5 shoes

Mine is size 2.

Size 2-4 in big kids is average for girls that age. My DD is turning 10 soon and has been in a size 8.5 women’s since the end of last school year. She also started puberty in that time and her feet definitely grew a ton right before external signs of puberty showed up. But she has always been the tallest in the grade, with maybe one boy taller, since kindergarten. Yes, she’s expected to be at least 5’10” and yes both sides of the family have women around 6’.

I had no idea the women's sizes and kid's sizes had that relationship (I'm a dad). My kid wears a 3, which is apparently a women's five? That's wild to me.

I was that kid! I’m an 11 now, was a 10 until I had kids. I remember being multiple shoe sizes bigger than my brother’s high school girlfriend and he went to college when I was in 2nd grade so I was only 7 or 8 at the timr. My mom always told me that models have big feet!

How tall are you now?

I was a size 8/9 shoe by that age too. My (tall) grandma used to give me her old church shoes for playing dress up and I could fit them. I am now 5’9 as an adult with size 10 feet. Actually they are more of an 11 after two kids and getting flatter/bigger. So those are big feet but not necessarily absurd.

My 9 year old is a boy, but wears a size 6 kid’s shoe, which I guess would be like a 7.5-8 in women’s. He is 4’9 and 73 pounds. He has always had big feet.

Op - when DD was born I actually commented on how big her feet looked compared to her size. I guess she always had flipper feet.

For a 9 year old I just can’t believe how expensive sneakers are when they have this big of feet! Little kid shoes are cheap compared to women’s sized shoes!

My 12 yo wears a kids size 2, and as a 5'8" adult I only wear a size 7. Those are some big feet.

It's beyond irritating that they have a different size scale for women's sizing. Kids sizing just blends into the men's sizing chart. But for women/girls? Here's an annoying conversion!

Women's shoes are generally more expensive so hold onto the kids sizes while you can.

When my daughter was 9, she also wore size 9! Good news, she’s almost 20 now, 5’8”, and her daily wear and dress shoes are 9.5!

I am also 5’8”, but have 11s!
