Ok, so EA applications are up at a school rising in popularity. So no correlation to what will be the total number of applications across all schools across all application types (i.e. EA, ED, RD.etc.) Go Georgia. |
No big surprise there… They got rid of all supplemental Essays. This is not big news. |
Yep, my kid was on the fence to apply to UVA and did apply. No supplemental essay sure helped him get there. |
|
I wonder where they are falling.
Or are kids just applying to more more more I think the big sports southern school thing (with engineering) is still a thing |
Yes, this is fairly conventional advice. |
Kids are applying to more and more schools. A combination of admissions feeling unpredictable and a need to weigh financial/merit aid offers. |
|
State schools are likely to become more popular with the current economy.
The more interesting number will be total applications. If EDs are generally up, RDs will be down by at least that much. The # of total applicants will also be interesting. International students. Kids on the fence about college. 2008 birth rate. Etc. |
Mine got in early action with a 32 ACT last year, which is the equivalent. |
I don’t think you understand how to extrapolate data correctly. |
| Go Dawgs! Georgia resident. Great school and fingers crossed for all of your kids. Although we would like to maintain our in-state advantage for our kids, I think it’s a great sign that there’s so much interest from OOS kids! |
Please look at the the thread that breaks down the chances of a 1530+ SAT scorer getting into a T20. It is a virtual guarantee. A 1410 puts you safely in the 75%. You are a great candidate for admission. |

I posted last week I was surprised by the kids getting deferred by Wake Forest this year as a parent of a Wake junior. I think they are also seeing an increase in early apps.
If this holds, expect a lot of deferral for ea and ed, schools want to wait for RD deadline to see if overall numbers are up, or if it’s just more kids choosing early over regular decision. |
You’re talking about the midpoint of a pool of applicants that 75% gets rejected. So 25% are better than that midpoint and still get rejected. |
The ones that require top scores- 35/36ACT; 1550+ SATs. |
Sorry I misread your post as applications rather than applicants. The 25th percentile should go down some, closer to 2020 levels. The 75th percentile will mostly stay the same, at least for top schools. |
