Holy Cross -Patriot League Division 1. Very good social vibe also unlike most NESCACs not located in middle of nowhere.

Bates, as well, lacks varsity ice hockey.

I went to Bates and had a good time... wouldn't say it isn't social, but it's definitely not hte most social of the NESCACs.

For those not especially familiar with NESCAC sports, the Continentals are the reigning conference champions in men's hockey.

With respect to NESCACs, Colby and Hamilton appear.

HWS, which was suggested by another poster as a less selective alternative, makes an appearance in the site as well.

What exactly is most social? All of these schools are pretty social especially for athletes. Union, Gettysburg, and Hobart all have greek life as well.

No SLAC has a higher sports profile than HC. They have 28 varsity sports and compete at Div1 level. Football stinks this year but still average over 12,000 for home games. Great tailgate scenes with future football games with Northwestern, Navy, Army. Men’s basketball is playing BYU and Utah this weekend while Holy Cross women hoops team is playing Duke after HC beat Boston College. No other top 25 LAC comes close.

This older Newsweek article, which includes NESCACs such as Bowdoin, Williams, Middlebury and Hamilton, may be of interest:

NESCAC sports are like high school teams- football and basketball games draw flies for attendance. Nobody cares.
