| Trump fired the entire boards of the planning commissions that were supposed to sign off on design changes to things like the White House, and you think the mayor of D.C. could have somehow stopped him from demolition entirely on the White House grounds? With what, a DCRA stop work order? |
Now we know you're not talking on the merits, but only want to hate on Bowser. Not credible, OP! |
| Why would you stop the demolition of some hideous offices from the 1940s? |
Not true. There was a big debate within the Bowser administration about this. Many were upset that Bowser chose to do nothing. |
Well, if you want to make it a moral issue, Trump is your president. You’re a citizen. YOU fight the illegal things he does. Let us know how it goes. At least any backlash will probably be limited to you rather than to the citizens that he’s already bent on punishing. Why in the world do you not understand that if you attempt to rein in a malignant narcissist, they will still continue to terrorize everyone around them — and even more so once they decide that their imagined war is personal? It sounds like you might be hoping to profit from the ruins PP. (NP) |
Bowser has been mayor for more than a decade and most Washingtonians have no idea what her voice even sounds like it. She's Mayor Meekness. |
Anyone who doesn’t know what her voice sounds like has gone out of their way to not listen. Trump would actually love to provoke a war, but would probably be happy with any opportunity that would, in his mind, justify federalizing the city. I give Bowser a great deal of credit for managing to successfully walk a tightrope strung up by a lifelong bully who’s not fit for the office that he holds. |
+1. |
+1 They chose a company to do the demo that had its asbestos abatement license revoked. Do you think this is a White House that cares about any rules?
|
Not PP. I do not doubt the debate. However they have no power over any part of the federal government. Congress can do what it likes also. Military is not subject at DC bases to DC law. There is no doubt about this. |
|
Bowser is humiliating DC with how she all but bends the knee to Trump. Oh wait, she did when she thanked him for sending in troops.
I wish she would take a page from Chicago's mayor and speak up for the people of DC. |
DC is much more vulnerable to federal government action than Chicago. This Republican Congress already tried to cut $1.1 bn from DC's budget, which DC had tax revenue to fund. I'm no fan of Bowser, and think Trump's sudden destruction of the White House was crazy and wouldn't be surprised if it released asbestos particles and other contaminants into the air we breathe, but there's not much she could have done to stop him. |
There's enough rich people in DC that she could make it up in taxes. |
Maybe she couldn't have stopped him but it would've been nice to hear our leading saying SOMETHING to defend our city instead of hiding. |
“Totally ignored environmental regulations” * sees news video with hoses being sprayed as contractors tears down the east wing. Looks to me they didn’t totally ignore environmental regulations. |
