HA! I can tell you that they don't stand with parents or teachers, that's for sure.

If this is true, then that is very sad. The approval of this proposal would take apart our school.

To be clear, we discussed this proposal in our DCC meeting with the principal present, and everyone was in a grim mood afterwards.

The union seems to be the only thing that the BOE cares about outside of rubber-stamping central office. Let’s hope they pay attention here.

They ARE suggesting a better plan. Read the MCEA press release:

MCEA calls for an immediate suspension of the current process until all stakeholders are actively involved in the development of a new model. Specifically,
MCEA will advocate for the creation of a new plan that:

1. Includes MCEA input in the design.
2. Limits the financial impact on other system initiatives.
3. Limits the impact on other system initiatives that are successful and should serve as models for expansion.

That's not a plan suggestion. Those are requests for a new plan with basic guidelines.

Why is the expectation that MCEA do MCPS's job for them? Smh you guys have no shame

This requires the process to be slowed down significantly.

Correct. I hope the combined pushback from MCCPTA and MCEA is enough to stop Taylor and the BOE in their tracks on this sloppy proposal.

And the County Council. Who MCPS is asking for some big money for capital improvements coming up. Honestly even if I agreed with everything in the current process and plan (which I very much don't) I would still think it's deeply unwise for Taylor and MCPS to push ahead at this point.

Honestly while I have many criticisms of Taylor, "not politically savvy" has not been one to date. So part of me thinks he will see the writing on the wall here and hit the brakes. But we'll see...

From the Bethesda Bear article:

In a statement emailed to Bethesda Today on Thursday, MCPS spokesperson Liliana López said the program analysis is an “iterative process” aimed at expanding programming access for all students.

“We hear the community’s concerns about the pace. However, we believe moving forward is essential to establishing the foundational model needed for future growth,” López said. “While we know that there will be a transition period, we are proceeding with intentional urgency because delaying this work risks maintaining a system of scarcity and inequity. Our commitment is to our students, and we believe it is in their best interest to continue building these opportunities now.”

Wow. Basically, Taylor doesn't care what we think. Incredible.

Pick one - any one. Even the Ws object to this sham of regional program planning.

He definitely doesn't and anyone who claims otherwise is engaging in brazen gaslighting.

This is all about Taylor and what he wants. What a disgusting, racist POS

Taylor is a bad hire. We need to fire him. What he is planning won't help schools that need more help and will hurt those schools that have success.

Exactly. We hear it. But we think we know better. What hubris.

Parents are against it, teachers are against it. CO staff, please report back to Taylor, it is good policy, and now abundantly clear, good politics, to stop this regional model. You have no choice but to go back to the drawing board to increase access.

Sometimes I feel bad for the MCPS leadership. They have to follow Taylor’s marching orders, and have to put up with community’s anger, everywhere they go. Now is a good time to jump ship.

I realized reading the Bethesda Beat article from today that this entire concept was only introduced to the BoE/public in May of this article.

Article from May:

https://bethesdamagazine.com/2025/05/16/mcps-exploring-regional-programming/

That’s astonishing speed without any kind of stakeholder/public involvement until it’s presented as a done deal.
