What is bad about having high standards for your students? |
It would be nice to be able to compare to other cities and states. It makes DC look like it has 'worse' schools when the scores may be more on par than people realize. |
| Hmm. It classifies one of the elementary schools near us as an "exceptional school" for outscoring its expected reading proficiency (for the school's poverty rate). Not surprising given this is a school for gifted kids so you have to read well above grade level to even get in. |
DCPS doesn’t hold students to high standards. At all. |

All this report shows is that we generally don’t outrun parenting in education but still (after all evidence) hope that schools will do that for us.
