| Never had this problem. Buy better jeans. |

I believe the smell is formaldehyde.
Chinese manufacturers put formaldehyde on fashion fabrics like denim jeans to prevent mildewing during storage and shipping. I suspect they also use formaldehyde on clothing to cut corners on some finishing chemical that is safer and more expensive. Look for jeans manufactured in the US, Europe, and non China countries using local cotton if you want to avoid the stench of formaldehyde soaked jeans and clothing. |
| Yes. I bought a Biden denim jacket and washed it several times but can’t fully get rid of the smell. It’s definitely less strong but still there. I’d say it’s like a mothballs smell? |
It is formaldehyde. The Chinese factories douse a lot of clothing in formaldehyde prior to shipping. You should return any clothing you receive that has that smell. |
Paige and Mother aren't good jeans? Based on the price of those brands, I'd say OP IS buying "good jeans." |
You could be buying expensive jeans, but if they are manufactured in the same sweat shop as the cheap temu crap, they are goung to be doused in formaldehyde just like the cheap stuff. A sweat shop produced garment with a 1000% branding mark up is still a temu-shein garment, just with a high end label and many times inflated price tag. |
