Percentage of BIPOCs at your child’s top pick

You can look it up in the school’s CDS.

Not a major factor for DC. Strength of the academic department they want is primary.

Is Asian part of BIOPIC?

I personally don't know as neither my kid nor I give a flying shit.

As a bipoc kid, mine comments if the white population is unusually high 60%+. I don’t think it’s a bad thing and tell him that it’s 4 years and being in an environment you’re not used to can be good too.

It becomes alarming whenever white and white latino percentage exceeds over 40%.
It's another story if they offer you full ride. For that sake, it may be worth it to suffer through four years. Good luck with your applications.

You need to practice reading for understanding.

My white kids have attended/attend a DCPS high school and they are very aware when we visit a college that is overwhelmingly white. They understand that no college is going to be as diverse as DCPS but it matters to them to be around people of different backgrounds, experiences, etc. They don't want to just hang out with white kids who have gone to majority white suburban schools in the midwest who have never met anyone of another color.

Congratulations on being insufferable.

Where did the term BIPOC originate? It is dehumanizing and seems to only serve people who can’t be bothered to see a non-white person as a person.

Same with my white kids, except they attended a very diverse Montgomery County high school. Both are happy at their fairly diverse (urban) colleges, one in the Northeast and one in the Midwest. It was a factor for them for sure.

My south Asian son visited Washington and Lee, Wake Forest, Davidson, and crossed them off the list. He is super high stats so these are safeties for him should he be interested.

Considering the number of DCPS kids who go to Wisconsin each year, this view is definitely not universal.

I hate the terms BIPOC and POC. Should we use “people of no color” (PONC) to describe White people?
