The one you linked didn't have an occupancy calculation: https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/siteassets/district/departments/publicinfo/Boundary_Analysis/interim-report/02b_Utilization.pdf 118% I think those maybe using the new "relocatable" classroom standard eg trailer trash. |
That report is from the boundary analysis using 2019 data. The CIP linked earlier has the current year enrollment, and it has Rockville cluster elementary school utilization at 93%. Only one ES is overcapacity, by 40 students. |
Your link doesn't list the actual numbers. Where did the students go or capacity come from. +20% swing. I'm pretty sure the relocatables haven't gone anywhere. Just walked by. I think they just changed the numbers reporting. They made some exception for schools near parks if I recall correctly. |
Yes, it does list the actual enrollment and capacity numbers for each school in the cluster for this year, and projections going forward. |
Did you figure out the discrepancy? |
| Doesn't the CIP say Ashburton ES is not overcrowded? Seems like BS to me. |
|
How can the capacity of Meadow hall be 327 in 2025 and 409 in 2020.
Just doesn't make sense. |
You haven't seen the relocatable classrooms they use at Blair and Walter Johnson then. Trailer trash would be an improvement. |
Wj is being given a brand new second school. Wj has had multiple remodels. Many of our schools haven’t gotten any remodels nor on the schedule. Our school has classes in the cafeteria and other places as classrooms and portables are full. One class my child has has two classes at the same time taught by one teacher. |
Ashburton has been overcrowded since fall 2011 (3 years after adding a 10 classroom addition). They put a "temporary" modular unit some years later and are now claiming it adds to capacity when they (MCPS) swore it wouldn't count toward capacity. It's like counting the portable trailers toward capacity. That is what is BS |
|
From google maps they look like double wides:
https://maps.app.goo.gl/fg4jXMXBNsasZHZp7 Same ones as 5 years ago. |
There are different capacity calculations: state-rated capacity is higher than MCPS program capacity. Be sure you're comparing apples to apples. https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/siteassets/district/departments/planning/fy2027/cip27_appendixf.pdf |
Shouldn't the MCPS materials be more careful in delineating there published studies? I mean it's as clear as mud. |
MCPS made a decision long ago that Ashburton would be overcrowded forever. The fact that they are now counting the modular, which they put in to replace trailer classrooms, is not much of a surprise. |
Ashburton had trailers in the 80s. Its hard to project when all those cheap apts by the mall are zoned for it. |
