with AI and fewer jobs plus climate change, our busting at the seams cities etc--- why exactly is having a smaller earthly population of humans a negative thing? I guess I should do a spin off but I really dont understand the panic about ppl having fewer kids.

I am from a super conservative Muslim culture and people used to have multiple wives or families with 4- teens kids normally and now having 2-3 kids is the norm. It's very rare for people to have even 4 kids but no-one is panicked or thinks it's worth commenting on despite the conservative and intrusive pressure to have 2 kids- the first and a sibling b/c its a very low trust culture so people pity someone who has no sibling as someone who will have no-one to trust in life or help with eldercare. but beyond 2 everyone is chill and some people even look askance at the 3 + families so what is the deal here?? also many women do end up getting married later in life but that is a good thing if you are conservative b/c once you do get married you have to focus on your in-laws, kids, husbands needs as well as your own so you should build up your life/career before taking in all of those responsibilities. It ha snow changed where younger couples are getting married and building life together but divorce is still seen as a tragedy and family responsibilities come first but there is no pressure to become a brood. mare!!

Just rolling my eyes at articles like this. Another writer living in NYC or whatever and playing at bizarre social dynamics because that's what makes them happy, but have nothing to do with how a majority of the rest of the world lives their life. Like that article from that woman who wrote about opening her marriage with a husband who could only finish by insulting her during the act, and her cope was to blow random men she encountered. Yes! I find articles like this fascinating because they are so utterly removed from the way people around me are living out here in normie land (i.e., suburb of a major Northeast metro).
