This. Is this not common knowledge at this point? |
Gates has almost nothing to do with Microsoft anymore. I don't think he is pushing for that. |
Dream on. You think he has all his holdings in cash? He makes money from tech, his friends make money from tech, his entire social circle is dependent on tech. You think they’d tolerate him saying “hey guys, maybe slow your roll on all those data centers, they use a lot of energy and water”? |
Ding ding ding! This is the beginning. Before the decade is out climate change will be "debunked" and good news! Big tech can use all the energy they need now! I love acience! |
Perhaps we should ask A.I. what we should do. Might be enlightening.

Trump’s fault.
|
| I for one am glad the climate crisis is being downgraded. |
Yeah, but what about those chocolate rations? When will we get them upgraded? |
Hahahaha. You are so wrong. |
| It is really surprising to me how resistant some are to any good news whatsoever on the climate front. The combination of improving decarbonized energy technology (primarily solar and small nuclear) and further refinements of climate models, which have taken a lot of the truly catastrophic scenarios off-the-table, have made this a much more manageable concern. As did the switch from coal to gas in the US (hug a fracker!). |
Caring about clean, air, soil, and water doesn't always go hand in hand with climate change policy priorities though. A great example is the absurd push for wind power in coastal MA. There have been a few instances of the turbines breaking and creating major pollution in the ocean and cranberry bogs, all for a type of "clean energy" that isn't even scalable, it's ridiculous. |
"Follow the money" always applies to "green" scams. Sometimes the heart is in the right place, but ignorance about Nature and Science often preclude that, and causes the scammers to exploit the situation. |
