The off ramp is when the Rs feel enough pressure from ACA premiums, TSA issues, no SNAP benefits, etc., and decide to negotiate. It sucks, but the Ds can’t give in.

I think Ds will end up "compromising" on these issues and give in eventually.

I am a contractor and we will be laid off mid-November when the money runs out. Fun times.

Weird talk and a little unbelievable, but several plugged-in folks I know are starting to say Christmas or thereabouts for any sort of full end to the shutdown. I know, sounds wild and outlandish, but to be honest, it sorta makes sense these days. I know that nearly all Beltway bandit folks in industry are planning for this thing to go well beyond 35 days.

He won't reopen it ever.
That has always been the plan

When Nov comes if they were to lose the House he'd be in trouble.

He is building a bunker a new one in the old one's place and the government is never reopeing and he is never leaving office.

Wake up people military are coming to suburbia all over this country. Russia will be boots on the ground soon as well.

Nope I am not wrong this is all not hard to see. He has literally said he's staying.

I’d been thinking Thanksgiving at the earliest, so this isn’t surprising. Sigh.

This makes me livid. They’re basically just effing around with peoples’ livelihoods. I am a contractor so no back pay either. I will never work for the govt. again as soon as I can get a job in the private sector.

Despite Thursday’s failed votes, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), the lead co-sponsor on the Shutdown Fairness Act, expressed optimism for reaching a bipartisan agreement to pay federal employees while the shutdown continues.

“We’re basically in agreement here,” Johnson told reporters. “I’m willing to add furloughed workers, and now it’s just kind of down to the reductions in force … I don’t want to completely constrain the President, but I don’t mind making sure that Congress has a say in this as well.”

“I’m actually quite hopeful — I think we can fix it over the weekend,” Johnson added. “This could open up a path to opening the government as well.”

"for reaching a bipartisan agreement to pay federal employees while the shutdown continues"

Not about reopening government, it is about paying federal employees before government reopens.

I think someone will blink before Thanksgiving.

I hope it won't be the Democrats.

I think that post is a little extreme but Trump has said he will “run for a third term” and as recently as today Bannon said, on camera, that Trump would be president again in 2028. Pretty disturbing stuff.

They’re full of sh*t.

And the House won’t be in session next week.
