Chevy Chase MD

If you plan to attend public schools, pay attention to what the cutoff line is for Somerset vs going to Rosemary Hills (which is near Silver Spring) through 2nd and then CC elementary for 3rd to 5th. I think Rosemary is fine, but it’s not walkable…though CC is ideallic.

Also, pay attention to HS redirecting as I think some of the Eastern parts may be sent to Blair (vs BCC).

I like that all the town events are free…they have food trucks and even open bar at some. Also, the town will subsidize your block party.

I do wish CC and Bethesda did more community events…parades, their own fireworks, etc. They don’t have any holiday parades and you can see the various CC fireworks.

They have protests. Like the one today along CT Avenue and EW Hwy. Also slightly further north at NIH in Bethesda

This is like US magazine when they have the segment “Stars, they are just like us”.

That’s your contribution on Chevy Chase MD? They have protests. You forgot to mention they also have grocery stores and drug stores and schools and sidewalks.

So sad that you and your dog can’t find an affordable one bedroom and den in an “vibrant” upscale mixed-use (with a “speakeasy” and dog wash) on Magnolia Pkwy.

Oh, the inequity!

Most don’t use public schools after elem (and many don’t do that) if that’s an issue for you.

It’s likely that a majority don’t…but a significant minority do. Best estimates are that 35%-40% do.

CC covers a larger area than perhaps you think.

I think a majority do. Mine were at BCC and I am pretty sure that 2/3rds of the neighborhood kids went there.

I lived in CC when my kids were little. I absolutely loved Rosemary Hills. The idea of a primary school that only goes to 2nd grade was amazing.

I ultimately moved to DC b/c I am black and got tired of people asking me if I was the nanny. There is a little more diversity now, but not much.

Except, BCC covers Bethesda, CC and what I would consider Western Silver Spring (though I don't know if the parts West of Grubb Road, but call it East of Brookfield Rd are considered Silver Spring or CC or what). This thread is specifically about CC, MD.

Isn't it obvious the area would have stores? But protests? People do not know that unless you say it.

Every place has protests. Every place. If they happened every week that would be one thing…but happening on a day when there were literally hundreds of protests across the country, isn’t noteworthy.

I am a big fan of the Rolling Wood neighborhood--great access to Rock Creek Park, short drive to the Beltway, Silver Spring, Bethesda, DC...
