It's clear this shutdown is going to last. People are going to miss paychecks. Also, it's perfectly legitimate to worry about losing one's paycheck before it actually comes to pass. If you have any human decency, you'd realize that. |
I posted that, because it DID happen when I flew in on Friday. But yes, live in your world and lack of value system, where you refuse to acknowledge reality and this is all fine to not pay people yet require them to work full-time. |
I think this Friday is the first paycheck where they will get a half check, right? So I'm not surprised if people are trying to figure out how to cut their grocery bill for this week so that they can pay other things coming due. Starting salary for a TSA agent is around 45K, so they don't have a ton of spare cash, and with a half check this Friday and rent just paid, they probably won't have money for groceries this weekend. I'm sure the people who work at food pantries and such will see an uptick in folks this weekend and over the next couple of weeks. |
Isn’t it 7/10 so about 3/4 check? |
Right?!? Several people have called this. Not surprising at all. God at this point, I wish they would RIF me so I can get on with my effin life. |
| This obviously sucks. But what sucks even more is that some people who are excepted and working have been told to mark their timecards as furloughed. So if this comes to pass, they won't get paid even though they've been working as usual. |
This line is so stupid. My next paycheck will be missing pay for 3 days last week I did work. |
+1000 but skip the sleeping bags. Don't make them comfortable. And, how about stopping their pay. |
Feds may or may not get paid, but contractors will not get paid at all. |
Tell that to congress because workers on furlough that are essential are working without a paycheck. |
I honestly can't believe they still get paid. They have one job. I think their reelection coffers should get emptied out to pay for this shutdown. |
you have no idea that Jose Andres was feeding govt workers on the last govt shutdown? https://www.washingtonian.com/2019/01/16/photos-jose-andres-shutdown-pop-up-kitchen-furlouged-federal-employees-families/ |
| Not paying the military is a great idea, let's do that. |
I’d refuse to do one ounce of work and I wouldn’t go in to office. |
| If work -= pay then congress doesn't get paid. They didn't do their job since gaveled in and have not passed a budget. So no pay for the whole year. |
