The large company I work for stresses how environmental we are, however, they have been pushing Microsoft copilot AI down our throats. I hear about how bad AI is for the environment due to the number of servers that are needed which require a LOT water resources to keep them cool

| Yes. FYI you can put "-ai" at the end of a Google search but it's even easier to use a different browser like Duck Duck Go that lets you turn AI off entirely. |
You can also insert swears.

Correct reaction, as it isn't trustworthy, and will never be. |
It's an egregious waste of resources for results that are essentially useless garbage. The limited handful of useful applications (reading radiology images to detect cancer, for example) aren't what's available to the common user of AI, who wastes enough energy and water to fuel and hydrate a small town asking ChatGPT for fashion advice or help with basic letterwriting, or worse, therapy. https://news.mit.edu/2025/explained-generative-ai-environmental-impact-0117 |
I'm the poster who said that my large corporation is pushing Microsoft copilot down her throat and I agree with this. We are hearing about how bad AI is for the environment and we're being told to use it for frivolous things like improve your emails and if you don't know how to start a PowerPoint presentation have AI do it for you… Hello, that's what our human brains are for as well. |
Clankers is a term originating from Star Wars. Now, since the AI boom this decade and regarding the concerns of AI. A lot of people came up with the term as the slur “clankers” (no surprise Gen Z came up with it) if they see anything thats a robot or artificial intelligence. So basically, someone will say in this example “Dude, why is my food being served by a clanker? I want a human.” Which is sadly starting to be more relevant in the future. |
| Also BTW, if you are relying on all your work to be written by a robot, you simply are not trying anymore. The amount of braincells being lost will be quicker than ever. |
| I agree, OP. I hate it. |
| I am. It's infuriating these places using AI that not only avoid addressing your issue but also totally embarrassing irrelevant responses that goes in circles. They also said they were closed but then gave hours telling me they were open in the same time zone I'm in. It's just embarrassing what this world has become. |
I don’t mind people who use AI for note taking, exam sample questions, etc. What I don’t like is when people intentionally try to use AI to make everything for them. Literally AI work is so soulless and has little effort. |
| AI sucks. It's derivative, unoriginal slop. It's the only thing growing in the economy right now, and when the bubble pops, it's going to be brutal. |
| Several of my (now former) service providers have started using AI bots to answer the phone, “talk to” you, schedule appointments, etc. The bots even know to answer “no” when you scream at them in frustration, asking if they are a real person, lol. |
| To have this pushed out without regard or meaningful public notice or approval of the environmental harm is criminal behavior. |
| I went to Taco Bell the other day and fought with the AI while trying to order so that will likely be the last time I go (not that I went often, but it was not a pleasant experience and not worth it for that food). |
