MCPS A&S Meeting with Colin Kaepernick

Developed by Colin Kaepernick, Lumi is an innovative AI-powered tool that helps learners bring their stories to life through creative expression and guided storytelling prompts. In this can’t-miss session, explore how Lumi can support identity, voice, and literacy in your classroom—and spark powerful narratives in every learner.

Kaepernick has a business management degree, not a degree that is based in literacy learning. Maybe it's helpful for students to learn to write stories as opposed to using AI.

Education is full of flavor-of-the-month education approaches. Could we try evidence-based approaches instead.

The Sandy Spring Slave Museum is a 100% volunteer staffed non-profit. It does not use funds (slush or otherwise) to pay for anyone to speak to MCPS or anywhere else.
P.S. check your spelling when promoting incorrect information.

They cut the MVA and many other programs claiming money and yet they pay for this nonsense.

MCPS is clear that kids cannot use AI, so whats the point of this?

I think the point was for Taylor to signal that he's a social justice warrior by aligning himself with Kaepernick, the poster boy for social justice.

Of course anyone who knows Taylor well knows this is just a front. But he seems determined to project that image, even though he pretty much is running MCPS the way it's always been run, with the same players at the helm.

Taylor is there for or not substance. We cannot afford paper, soap, paper towels, repairs hooks, provide advanced classes, have enough support for sn students but he can pay for this. He’s got to go.

Is it possible to have a more woke school system? Is it too soon to point out the connection between not background checking employees with the clear and obvious grooming happening by Taylor and Moran?

Or are we still supposed to pretend there is nothing to see here? (Asking for a friend)

Eliminate all PD. Just let teachers prepare for the year as they see fit.

Tell your friend to put down the conspiracy theories and walk away. ALL mcps employees have been fingerprinted and have had a background screening. ADDITIONAL CPS screening is backlogged.

No they haven’t been. And, it should be done regularly just not upon hire.

I can’t wait to see a picture of Taylor and Kaepernick together on the MCPS home page for all to see (eye roll)

Yes they have? It's been said and confirmed multiple times. Every single mcps employee has been fingerprinted, the audit always referred to cps checks and continuous screening, but everyone has been screened/fingerprinted at least once.
