No, Zimmerman brought up teachers again at 7/24. The difference this time is that Taylor helped his team answer the questions. He assumes teachers will be excited to hyper specialize when in reality McPS can move teachers whenever they want to wherever they want. He blew off Zimmerman’s question about PD for teachers when they move. The program team made it seem like the whole cohort of teachers would just support each other and/or the teachers currently teaching those specialized classes would support new teachers on top of their FT teaching responsibilities. Yang asked about transportation and the financial data for grandfathering in old programs while ramping in the new. I predict it will be the most expensive from 2027-2031 for this reason. Also, Taylor made it obvious that the program are the purview of MCPS and the boundaries are the purview of the BOE. The BOE is asking a lot of questions about the programs because that data will determine building capacity for the boundary changes. |
The programs can be the purview of the BOE if they want them to be. They don't have to defer to Central Office unless they choose to. Of course they're not going to get into all the nitty gritty execution details, but they absolutely can push back on all the high level conceptual stuff about how programs should work. They are Taylor's bosses and above the whole MCPS central office. |
