Do you think the police acted inappropriately here, or should they be disciplined ?.

Assuming there was nothing that happens after the end of this tape, the police handled this professionally. Shots were fired. They had no way of knowing that there weren’t other people in the store with him. They needed to make sure he didn’t fire again, so they drew their weapons and had him get to the floor to be handcuffed. Pretty by the book.

That reminded me of this classic:

It troubles me that people as stupid as you are allowed out in public unsupervised. And presumably you can vote, too.

We're so screwed.

How ironic of you.

This.

That thief was lucky he wasn't shot by the cops. Police often shoot unarmed little old ladies for "making a move" and they "have to get it on."

So overall the cops did ok.

Thief was also lucky he wasn't shot by the store owners.

Locking him inside could have landed them in legal trouble though.

It's "illegal" for a non LEO to physically restrain someone in many jurisdictions, which includes store security guards. Oddly enough it's perfectly legal to stop them from leaving at gunpoint.

He’s actually lucky those bullets didn’t ricochet, since it looked like he was firing them point blank at the metal lock.

I would love to see some proof for this statement:

It's obviously tongue in cheek, but youtube has plenty of police videos of them doing criiminal acts against the public if that's an interest you have. Usually 100 new bodycam videos come out each day of bad police.

He already apologized and he had his hands up. There wasn’t no need to traumatize him like that with pointing loaded guns at him. HANDS UP, DONT SHOOT!

And there are tons of body cam videos that show police exhibiting tremendous patience.

Body cam videos have been a great addition to policing. We get a much clearer idea of what police deal with now. I’m all for them.

I think this is a troll post just to show the footage and race bait.

Quick thinking store owner, perp brandished a gun in waistband starting the chain of events. Everyone got out safely, cops handled situation properly.

Life in the city.

The force was far too excessive. They had guns pointed directly at his head. He had his hands up. He was no threat to them.

Then they forced him to the ground - again, that’s excessive force, too. He had his hands up. He was surrendering. There was absolutely no need to force him down on the ground other than to psychologically abuse him, enforce their dominance, and insult his dignity.

This type of behavior is why ordinary normal people don’t like police. Because they are bullies. Bullies with the ability to murder you if you make them mad or don’t show them what they think is the proper level of “respect” they think they are due.

I doubt any of them even in the video even have an undergrad degree - but they get to bully people and push others around. I have two MA’s, but I’m sure those cops would treat me just like they’d treat a disadvantaged person, if I didn’t ask “how high?” when they said “jump!”. Police don’t respect anyone. They are obsessed with their own authority and constantly reinforcing that mindset with the public.

They don’t protect and serve - cops bully and abuse. That’s why I hate cops and why the police should be defunded. And we will get back to doing that in a few more years once Trump is gone/dead.
