Not OP but are they new? My kid played various team sports when he was younger (he’s 20 now) and there was none of this.

There's very little of this in my 11 year old's chat who is involved in a high level league. I know that sounds harsh, but it's been years since I've seen group responses like that. Add it the list of reasons why playing with similarly minded/dedicated kids is beneficial despite the cry that travel sports are a money grab and a waste of time.
