would have to be a top 25 for that money - Bucknell or better! |
Net worth would be the more relevant consideration for me. |
We send our kid to one that costs almost as much (84k) and could handled 90k/yr but nope — could not afford a 40k consultant. |
|
If I could spend that on a consultant I wouldn't worry about my kid and college because I know she'd be fine no matter where she went. Because clearly I have money to cushion any hard landings. |
There is nothing a counselor could do that is worth that kind of money. Signed a person that is regrettably spending 20k for what feels like nothing and a NW 20+ million. |
+2 We’re at 1.5m (though we have multiple kids) and wouldn’t consider it. |
You would have to be a very stupid person to spend $40k on a college consultant. Doesn't even matter how wealthy you are. What a fool's errand. |
And people are citing hypothetical examples excerpted from these counseling services' websites. LOL |
Should have spent the money on the kid's education. |
A bazillion + a gazillion. But even at that income/net worth, we'd probably pass. |
$30m+ NW. We did application nation and essay coaches. |
I would just have my kid get in on their own merits rather than pay someone else to do it for them. |
Always thought the ratio of people spending five figures on tutoring etc on core academics to those spending the same amount on college counseling made no sense. |
Same. I would never. |
