NVSL Division 1 Meet Sheet

My kid was excited to see who she was swimming against. A lot of the kids at the D1 pools either go to school together, swim Club together, or compete regularly against each other at PVS meets. It makes races, clerk of course, etc extra fun because you are racing your friends.

If they are friends why doesn’t your kid ask their “friends”. I think it’s a way to look at the competition.

Friendly. Is that better? And of course they are anxious to see who is swimming what…that is normal curiosity

Because parents on this board are insane.

There are way too many variables and you might as well wait. Some of the divisions will be disadvantaged because they will be in a slow pool. Those pools might be hot, shallow, not have outside lane lines, etc. While others will be at pools that have water that has been chilled overnight, extra pool for warm up/cool downs, high lips on the coping stone, etc. When you are talking about hundredths of a second difference those can be huge factors. Unless, IM, which is a bit more equal.

And don't forget all the swimmers that didn't get to swim their favorite strokes because they were forced to swim other events to help the team in an A meet. You don't have the complete picture of the playing field. Best is the years when no one chooses a stroke and kids get in that normally would not.

Relax, just wait and see.

This sounds like a lot of whining. I would argue that some of the smaller neighborhood pools could be faster because there is no heater so the water isn’t as warm. When you use hose water at the beginning of the season instead of heating it year-round like the D1 pools it may still be colder even with the summer months. I can say our pool is definitely cold all summer and the adults do not go in until August! Also your pool operator can flush the water if you really care that much.

As far as pool lips. Everyone claims Tuckahoe is a super fast pool which it is from what other people say because the lip is higher for front starts. Where there is a disadvantage is backstroke because the wall is too high to use legs so you have to use the gutter. Every pool is different, every division is different, and the constant excuses and hate about how things are unfair gets old quickly.

If you don’t like the landscape don’t do summer swimming.

Are you serious right now? They will find out in the clerk of course area…

It’s your kid versus the clock not their friendly friends.

It’s a bit crazy to try and size up the competition ahead of time. Just go and swim. It’s summer swimming.

I don’t think team reps get the meet sheets for all divisions, only for their division.

I think people in other divisions are asking because they want a copy of the D1 meet sheet. My guess is they are working through their homemade ladder to see if their kid is going to make IAS! 😳

I’ve gathered all the intel I can. I have used the NVSL leaders board to figure out who is in front of my kid. I’m not worried about anyone who finaled tonight at champs, they should be tired. But for the rest I have gathered home addresses. I will drive around tonight and create a variety of disturbances that will hopefully keep their competitors from getting a good nights sleep. Then I will stealthily return to my house, hopefully not walking my kid in the process.
