+1 and also why it’s important to be reachable when you have others caring for your pets. Unless these people are vacationing where there is literally no internet service there really isn’t an excuse for the lack of response.

Op here - I think they are in the woods for days at a time of their trip. So yes, probably no cell or internet service for the stretch I didn’t hear back from them.

+1. What a waste of your time. I would be done with this family.

You and your daughter are heroes!

Those owners were idiots for telling you the wrong code and not telling you it needed a # sign. AND not telling you there was automatic water and plenty of food. Jeez!

The cat owner wrote to the OP. I assume a text!? She obviously wasn’t very concerned about her cats. Hoping the owner is appreciative of all your efforts.

Glad it worked out, op! I would have been super stressed and annoyed when
I found out the owners had given the wrong code and insufficient instructions.

Making note for myself to tell my kids if they pet-sit to practice any door codes if necessary.

OP, you and your kids are gems!

Just an FYI--we always leave the toilets open when we go away, just in case of a situation where the cats can have the water if necessary. Neither of my cats normally drink from toilets but would assume they would figure it out in a desperate situation.
