I bought some handcrafted wooden nested owls that are absolutely beautiful.

Every year, I buy handcrafted wooden birdhouses for my bluebirds.

I have bought vintage handbags.

I purchased a beautiful tea and teapot set from a pottery vendor.

Same- artwork from artists I admire who only sell through there. I kinda hold my nose and purchase because I have been burned by Etsy before.

Based in Northern Virginia, we make crochet purses, crochet earrings, appliqued/patchwork tote bags and sell them on Etsy. Our shop is new. We make very few items since all handmade items are very time consuming and we are doing this only for fun. We also advertise on Etsy to get our shop some reputation. So far we have made almost 20 sales (all handmade and unique) in 7 months, and absolutely no profit. Actually we have some loss due to advertising costs.

Our shop's name is Lunaris Artisan if anyone wants to check it out: https://www.etsy.com/shop/lunarisartisan

My kids like it. I just looked through my purchases from the past three years and there are cell phone cases, iPod covers and t-shirts.

I will say, their decorative phone cases seem to hold up better than the “good” phone cases DH and I buy from Amazon or Verizon and they are not as careful with them. I don’t think it is Etsy since it is all different sellers, just luck.

Is there a way to identify homemade (not china crap) sellers more easily?

If you have any shops you like, please name them.

Thanks for this. I remember when Etsy was all handcrafted.
Now if I hear about an artisan, I go specifically to that Etsy store. I don't browse around with the china crap. So get your name out there and post images of your real creations!
