YJ DMV Plays in competitive tournaments like Live love lax, lax for the cure, G8 and Maryland Cup. Recently ranked 31 on US Club Lax. Unfortunately, they no longer practice in VA. They only practice in MD.

Pride 2030 has some talent on it. They played in the NGLL and won the Midatlantic Region B bracket. So could be on the higher side of B lower side of A? They only had one team last year, but its possible they field a second one.

Having direct knowledge of the families experience on that pride team, I would be floored if they stay together next year. Prides inability to persistently deliver a quality experience will likely affect the roster next year.

I'm not quite sure what that means, purposefully vague. Is it the experience of the parents? or the players?

Believe this is referring to players and parents.

You should honestly try out for them all and see where your kid likes playing the most. Or where they have friends the most. It sometimes comes down to the environment and if your kid isn't enjoying it or having fun despite any pros (winning season, location, etc), then your kid isn't personally going to want to keep doing it. after a few years off club, we've realized there are always going to be a few bad apples in every bunch referring to players and their parents on a team.

Pride is a dying organization. Once KM left that was the kiss of death (even though folks had issues with her). There is a huge lack of any real strong leadership at the top. Go north to MD if you can. 3d changes with the fart of wind. Stars is meh but you have to deal with the one of the worst human beings in existence and a vindictive director Again… go north or save your money and pay for private lessons

Concur with all of this. Nova lax teams are a complete disaster. They’ve waisted years of talent. It’s why so many families are traveling to MD for lax now. These NOVA clubs should be embarrassed.

OP here. I do get a sense that VA teams are lacking. What MD teams are around Bethesda area besides BLC? That drive across the bridge is what keeps me from crossing.

YJMA DMV holds practices in MD at stone ridge and Georgetown Prep. As someone previously mentioned, ranked 31st. Next best team, MnD DC is in the 100s.

BLC practices at Bullis, the practice times for the older girls have been a little later (7:30, 7:45, etc.) so getting across the bridge isn’t as much of a factor. Depending on where you are in NoVA it may be quicker to get to Bullis (w/o traffic) than to some NoVA based locations.

Doesn't BLC stop in 8th? So you would be back finding a team again in HS

Not to mention assuming a random internet mom's DD is going to break into BLC's team in their last year together.

This raises an interesting question. I heard there were girls at the BLC tryouts who are not currently on the team. What are the odds of a girl making it on the team in the last year?

Not high unless she's the next Charlotte North

Laughable. Pretty extreme to think BLC wouldn’t love a new good player. Every top team around is looking for 1 or 2 good players to add.

You're saying the same thing.

At this age BLC pre arranges their tryouts so they know exactly who is making it before the girls step on the field. There were a couple of girls from another team whose parents had already worked out their new spots with the coaches, there is zero chance a girl will show up blind and end up on the team.

This BLC team is nowhere near as good as the 2027 team

As PP said, BLC tryouts are a joke. The Blue team is set before you show up. They have tryouts to to collect the fee's and to make offers for the Orange team.
Anonymous
At this point, the tryout for BLC Blue has already passed so it doesn’t really matter unless your DD was interested in the Orange Team for one year.

I would also agree with the PP to try out for all of the teams and see which one is the best fit for your DD in terms of the coaching and the girls on the team.

Speak with parents you meet at the tryouts and the coaches if you can to get a sense of what the team is like.

Good luck!
