My kid was not at all impressed with Kahn Academy prep. |

Has anyone used Learner.com for SAT prep or can recommend a company? |
It changed in the last two years. College Board used to directly integrate with it and there were more official, real tests. This changed when the digital SAT started phasing in. |
SAT is definitely getting harder this year. |
My kid is doing a summer prep course ahead of Junior year, and planning to sit for the SAT in August before Junior year.
They got a 1500 on the PSAT-10 and have gotten 1510s on both SAT practice tests so far. The test prep company said they don't need to take the class, but they want to know they did all they could. They don't find it burdensome at all and are attending the evening classes after their internship. There aren't many evening classes. They're still doing sports summer practices, but their sport has fallen way way way down the list of priorities, so I will be surprised if they are still doing stuff with the school team come August. I envision this as the year my kid finds a gym buddy and just plays occasionally for fun. |
Khan academy works for some kids. Rising senior...did Khan academy prep last summer (before 11th grade) and took 2-3 practice blue book tests. No other test prep. Summer wasn't that busy...driver's ed, volunteer work, playing sport, watching Olympics. SAT in 08/24, 1570 PSAT in 11th grade, 1520 |
^^Clearly it works for some kids. Maybe each kid needs to find their own path. |

My DC signed up for the ACT having never seen it, took a practice test the week before, got a 34 on the test (early junior year). That was good enough for him but he was not even remotely a striver. |
How do you know? |
