I hope not. My brain hurts just thinking about reading another ridiculous thread about that.

It's a non-issue because no one is going to sign up for KSAC this year. And all the Potomac kids bought the roster spots at RSFC.

Curious to know what is meant by this. Site transfers from KSAC to Rockville, or something else?

Ksac is in North Bethesda and is closed for remodel for two years. It will reopen next year. So, the groups moved all over. So, you have one year of all over depending on your group and then everyone returns to ksac. No idea if they will do a group in silver spring. Not sure what that means if they left for the Rockville pool run by city of Rockville which is a separate tryout.

PP has no idea what they are talking about. In my kid’s KSAC group, only 1 kid left last year (as far as I know) with the location change, aside from those who aged out and moved up. This year’s practice locations and schedule are likely to be very similar to last year’s. At least for my kid’s group, the schedule and practice locations were fine.

Quite a few KSAC kids transferred to Rockville last year, a few already transferred this year even before season ends

They must be the top kids as we were never told we could. They may have been given priority due to location.

those i know are at least NDG/NTG level or close. for regular jr/sr group swimmers, chance to switch is pretty low, you just sign up for open tryout with everyone else.

They probably filled the openings with ksac kids before taking new ones and then new ones could go to ksac. We switched years ago and got lucky as a child was leaving and we couldn’t make the commute work with a job change. For us, the ksac changed worked out well. Love our coach.

I don't think they gave preference to Ksasac kids. Some GISC/MLK kids also transferred to Rockville last year.

Confusing that you say KSAC is in North Bethesda. Many of the swimmers do go to North Bethesda Middle School, and they swim their practices at Bethesda summer pool in the summer months. However, KSAC is in Rockville. It is not in Bethesda. There is no such thing as North Bethesda

KSAC summer is all over. It is technically North Bethesda even though many of us consider it Rockville. Yes, there is a North Bethesda now.

Swimmers go to multiple middle and high schools. You are only focused on the juniors. There are multiple groups that swim there.

I've watched the KSAC-in-exile arrangements unfold over time and been really impressed by the loyalty and dedication people have shown. The practice schedules and locations actually look pretty random, burdensome, and scattered from the outside. I'm sure the KSAC folks are looking forward to getting back into their site - which they often will have chosen in the first place based at least in part on the location.

I say all this wondering what may happen with MLK - aren't there supposed to be renovations approaching there, too?

MLK renovation scheduled to start in FY28 (if no delays). I guess they will use SSRAC too.

I was thinking they'd start a Silver Spring group but they will probably shift it to Silver Spring, which would make sense.

We stayed during the school year as we got lucky and could make the schedule work as we love the coach but we couldn't make the summer work due to times/distance.

Does anyone know when KSAC decisions are being mailed out?

They said after 2nd tryout in July. Their advanced groups should have spots. Someone with mid level swimmer at KSAC said they are full in their regular group.

We didn’t get that information at the senior tryout. They were talking with one male swimmer, giving the parents their cell phone number. Then, when I asked about my daughter they were unsure of an exact date for results for the advanced groups.

My kid will be at the TOLL try out next week, so that’s a good distraction while we wait. We know several girls her age that left advanced TOLL groups for various teams so hoping that means there will be open spots.

We were at senior tryouts and the coach said they had spots available, but didn’t specify. Do you know if they group males and females together or try to have some separation? Also what about within 13-18? That’s a large age gap to all be in one group.

They are all one group with age. The boys and girls swim at practices together, but they are separated in meets. It will depend on whose moving up from other groups.

That sounds strange. Coaches/staff don't give out phone numbers.
