3.5 for ours!

WEIGHT OR NOT WEIGHTED?

That is low GPA when if they don't bounce back they will be going to MASON or NVCC

Not everyone is an academic superstar and 3.5 is fine. We are proud of our DC and this GPA.

That’s better than fine; that’s GREAT! Congrats !!

This is wholly inaccurate. We're tired of you, AAP mama.

Do riding 9th graders center HS with a GPA or rank? Just curious as DC has three HS classes already going in. One is a language and may not be weighted.

Yes, if they took HS level courses in MS, they have a GPA entering 9th grade (FCPS does not rank). World language at that level is not weighted, but math (Algebra 1/Geometry) would be if taken at the honors level.

Okay , just wondering. His grades in all three classes have been finalized but in his transcript it still shows blank next to GPA.

I don't think language classes are weighted ntil they take AP or IB classes, which is the 5th year of language. I could be wrong.

Only honors and AP classes are weighted. Honors gets a 0.5 bump and AP gets a 1.0 bump. Level 5 of a language is usually AP - earlier levels are not even honors so no bump.

Yes, he was in AAP.

That’s actually really low for an AAP kid who is presumably in all honors classes which get a 0.5 bump. He wasn’t able to make solid As in honors classes?

That GPA is fine. Don't listen to this person. In your first year, it is almost impossible to take all honors classes, in some areas they don't exist - such as PE. They will bring down your GPA unfortunately.

4th year of world language is honors with a .5 bump. you can see it in the course catalog
