That doesn't make you smart. Optimize humidity? Almost everyone with a basement needs a dehumidifier in the summer. If you set a dehumidifier on 55%, it will stop at 55% and keep it there. Your HVAC stops when it gets to the temperature you set, regardless of humidity.

Aprilaire E080 or larger depending on the square foot of your basement. I have a E100 and it's great.
