I don't agree with the cruel part but I do agree that it's beyond time. Who are you keeping the dog alive for...yourself?

Put the dog out of its misery.

The not really walking part is what would make me do it. FWIW, I had a beloved dog who sounds very similar. He, too, kept eating up until he last minute. Hr was literally eating salami at the vet’s office as we were doing it. But he couldn’t really walk and 99% of the day was him just resting. That is no life for a dog.

It is hard and I am very sorry. Dogs that live with us for so long are special. They bear witness to so many life events and it is so hard to let them go. But it is our responsibility to do it when it is time.

Don't wait too long. My aunt made the mistake of waiting until her dog was in obvious distress and the dog had a seizure they couldn't stop. It was really hard on all of them, especially the kids.

Much better to do it before you're in crisis.

It’s like an avocado. Too early too early and then it’s too late. I am going through the same thing right now but with my dog it’s skin cancer that is localized and uncurable and spreading. So I have to act now right before it gets really bad. It’s gut wrenching but inevitable.

Hey, OP, how are you doing?

I'm hoping you were able to get Lap of Love scheduled before it's a crisis (I waited too long and the end was traumatic for everyone)
