You’ll likely have to wait until 4th grade for enrichment. |
What school? |
If schools don't implement model 1 for CKLA to cohort those that need enrichment, even for 3rd grade, this testing and designation is a pointless waste of MCPS taxpayer money for the sake of a state requirement. MCPS should be ashamed at themselves for depriving these GT kids from the enrichment they need. |
It’s easy to ignore the silent. |
CES eligibility — which is related to who gets ELA enrichment in 4th — is not even based on who is or isn’t qualified as “gifted” |
Neither model 1 nor 2 is an option in 3rd grade (only for 4th and 5th), although there will apparently be resources for literacy enrichment for 3rd graders during the FIT/WIN block. |
+1 See the other thread about the systemic failure of MCPS to meet GT students’ needs 85 us getting worse, not better. |
Simply because that doesn’t help close the achievement gap. |
I was wondering if it was the percentile or actual score. I’m assuming percentile? As is the MAP. But the DIBELS indicator is an actual score not a percentile. I wish they’d be more transparent. Also, curious if anyone knows when they started using cogat? My older kid never had that on his assessment. |
Yes, the CoGAT was the percentile not the score. And overall, not broken down by category. This year is the first time they have done CoGAT since before the pandemic. |
At least as of now, my school is doing option A. I was looking at my DD's yearbook and it seems they cohort the "high" level kids and they keep the kids together in 4th and 5th. This is a title 1 school. |

Thanks! |
Did they provide the National percentile, or was it locally normed? |
If didn't say either way. I assume nationally. |
